Passed AZ-104 + some tips!!

Yo everyone,

I just passed the AZ-104 a week after having sat for the exams. Looks like it's finally out beta as well.

I wanted to share two tips on how to nail the exams.

  1. This course on udemy: https://www.udemy.com/course/70533-azure/ . it's very complete and straightforward. That alone should get you to certification.
  2. This exam dump: https://www.examtopics.com/exams/microsoft/az-103/view/. I found quite few similar questions during the exams. This should give you some hands-on practice.

Cheers++

Scott Duffy's Udemy course on AZ-104 is pretty good. He updates it quite frequently. Check it out.

Microsoft Azure Certification Tests AZ-103 vs AZ-104

I've been in help desk roles for a little over three years now and I wanted to advance my skillet. Because of some advice I saw on here about a month ago I took some free online seminars in preparation for the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification. Microsoft sent me a free voucher and I just passed my AZ-900 test. I like Azure so far. I've created a learning account and have been playing around a bit and doing some tutorials on YouTube. Unfortunately I do not have any work experience with it through my employer.

My questions are, Should I attempt to get the Microsoft Azure Administrator Associate certification without work experience?

If so, should I take the AZ-103 or AZ-104? The AZ-103 test got it's expiration date pushed back to August 8th, 2020. But it is a little out dated as far as questions go (or so I've researched online). I want to be as up to date as possible, so should I take the AZ-104 test? It has been available since April 2nd, 2020. The only issue is that I don't see any study guides online (I like physical books for studying when possible). I just want to be as job ready as I can be when I ask to start shadowing the few people in our department who do things with Azure.

I've never used an online service like udemy to prepare for a certification. Wondering if that would be a good way to go or if anyone has any experience with it.

Thank you.

If IT is something you really want to pursue.. Use this as an amazing opportunity to learn something new. Udemy is your best friend. Udemy runs sales every other day making 60 hours courses only $15 or something like that.

You might have bullshitted your way into it but use this as a chance to challenge yourself. Take the extra time to learn all the material inside some udemy courses and the pain youll go thru learning it, your future self will thank you a million times over.

I'll link some good udemy courses to get yourself in the door with basic computer hardware, basic networking, and some cloud courses using azure.

--

Entry Level Computer Hardware - FREE Youtube Course - Professor Messer - I used this guy for my A+ Cert for the 220-901 & 902 and I passed with an 92%

Entry Level Networking - Network+ Certification

Mid Tier Networking - CCNA Course - I used this course for my CCNA along with Boson practice exams and passed with a very good score, forget exactly what score.

Entry Level Cloud Technologies - Azure AZ-900 | Azure Fundamentals

Mid Tier Cloud Technologies - Azure AZ-104 | Azure Administrator - This is currently what I am studying, using this course exactly and I have zero complaints.

UDEMY RUNS SALES ALMOST EVERY OTHER WEEK, IF YOU SEE A HIGH PRICE, BE PATIENT AND WAIT A WEEK UNTIL THEY RUN A SALE.

Hi u/SexyBeast0101,

So actually I used Scott's course from Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/course/70533-azure/

Also this organized link for MS documentation: https://www.thomasmaurer.ch/2020/03/az-104-study-guide-azure-administrator/

And this link for test myself: https://www.examtopics.com/exams/microsoft/az-104/

Note that you have to register to examtopics to be able to access to all of the questions there + some of the answers there are incorrect. always read the discussion between the users.

If you have no experience working with Azure, Id recommend starting with he AZ-900. It's geared more towards sales and PM roles, but i found it to be more technical than expected. There aren't any labs for this exam and it's a good 'foot-in-the' door for all things Azure.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/learn/paths/azure-fundamentals/

Next i'd recommend studying for the AZ 103, which is geared towards those looking for administrator type roles in azure. I'm currently studying for this one myself. Scott Duffy has a great course on Udemy that he constantly updates as things change on Microsoft's end.

I've been working exclusively in azure for about a year now. I come from a developer background as well, and i'll say that while having experience with javascript is a plus, you wont really work with it much in Azure. I'd recommend studying up on ARM templates (which are JSON) and AZ Powershell. There's a lot of good information out there on getting started.

Good luck!

There seems to be an uptick in the popularity of the AZ-104 exam and it was suggested that a resource post be created. I cannot speak to the helpfulness of these resources as I have not taken the exam yet. Still, these resources were found common in the last 30 days of posting. Hopefully this helps!

1) https://www.udemy.com/course/70533-azure/

It was video course. It’s only $10 but worth it every penny. The guy explaining and demonstrating every objective which you see on the exam!

2) https://www.whizlabs.com/microsoft-azure-exam-az-103-certification/

It’s test dumps. What I did I took a note of every question I got wrong, then studied the notes and taking same tests again to make it sit in my head.

3) https://slstudentpublic.blob.core.windows.net/operations/PowerShell%20Guide_Skylines%20Academy_AZ.pdf

It’s powershell guide. You don’t have to memorize all commands but be able to poke around knowing how they function and on what step of the process you need what command (expect multiple choice questions on this. + CLI (in the udemy course you there is CLI guide with different commands). Yes, to pass this exam you have to know Powershell and CLI (aka linux terminal).

4) https://sysadmin-central.com/2019/03/01/az-100-microsoft-azure-infrastructure-and-deployment-study-notes-1/ https://ravikirans.com/az-103-certification-study-guide/

These two links are well done at describing every exam objective.

And now is the hardest and most vital. You have to practice it at home. It’s impossible to pass the test without hands on experience.

5) https://github.com/MicrosoftLearning/AZ-103-MicrosoftAzureAdministrator

The last is the labs from GitHub. Don’t expect Exam labs to be similar. On the exam I had 8 sub-labs called “1st LAB”. It’s all practicing and learning at the same time. Microsoft Docs came extremely handy.

In addition, start follow the group “AZURE” on Reddit. There people upload their advices/thoughts and of course frustrations which you need to be familiar with.
