I actually did a similar thing and lucked into some work doing front end design with a company based in my hometown with the assumption I will begin traveling at the beginning of the year.

Before this happened, I was using flexjobs.com to look for work. There are so many quality companies that post there and really cool jobs. I highly suggest signing up for an account. You do pay a small fee yearly but this sort of "weeds out" the people marketing themselves at the low price points.

Also, I'm currently extending my portfolio of skills using udemy courses. They're cheap and can help you increase your skill set at your own pace. Here is the one I have found most beneficial so far: https://www.udemy.com/course/become-a-certified-web-developer/

Best of luck to you!
