Passed ICND2 872/811

Man this feels good!

"Thank you" to everyone here. I learned so much from your insights and tips on study habits and taking the test. Everyone that stressed knowing your "show" commands...YOU DA REAL MVPs! While I thought I failed ICND1 before I got the results, I felt 50/50 about ICND2.

I used the following to prepare:

  1. LABS, LABS, LABS - whether you use GNS3 or Packet Tracer, labbing early and often will help out tremendously. You get to make the stupid configuration mistakes and troubleshoot issues, which helps you with the simulations. I used Twitter and Instagram to find typologies for layer 1 configuration and then I would do the rest (layer 2 and 3) #LabEveryDay
  2. David Bombal's ICND2 Udemy class (link) - I would get easily distracted with instructors who rambled and didn't stay on topic, so David Bombal's course was a nice fit (1.25x speed). Plus he does troubleshooting exercises at the end of his lessons, which came in handy on the actual test.
  3. OCG for ICND2 200-105 - hard to get through at times, but well worth the read
  4. CCNA ICND2 Notes from Chris Yoo (@ccna4life) - a sort of condensed version of the OCG, good for reviewing a week or two before the exam (DM him and ask for a copy)
  5. I had exam prep for ICND1 through AlphaPrep, but my subscription ran out a month before ICND2. I know everyone swears by Boson, but I had already bought the AlphaPrep package and it was too late
  6. Mentoring and accountability via NexGenT - I tried to get my CCNA years ago and never followed through, so I got into a class to get me started and to keep me honest. Plus, the community aspect gave me peers to boost me up in those demotivated times
  7. Cheat sheets from packetlife.net - a great resource to help drill certain details into your head

For those getting ready to take the test, you got this! Take your time, read the questions CAREFULLY, eliminate wrong answers where possible and STAY CALM. I am going on vacation next week and after that, it is back to the grind. I have other certs that I have my eyes on...
