It is indeed for personal purposes: to learn and eventually move my existing services off my Windows desktop. I want to try and do things correctly from the start this time though. Basically, I want to make sure it's secure and backup-able from the start.

I know what you mean about the Pi--I also have many Pis running, and also ran into issues with code libraries not being able to run on ARM. So, I'm just trying to consolidate everything into the NUC now.

In the end, I decided to go with 3 Udemy courses:

I have wanted to really dive into Linux for a while and my boss just quit that was our linux sysadmin and our company was straight up like "we aren't replacing him" well no one in my team has any desire to learn linux so I am diving in headfirst to try and learn it, if nothing else it will land me a better job in the future but this is what I have been using to start learning and the classes have been fantastic and very clear!

Well there is no getting rid of YouTube. I don't think anyone can muster that. I have YouTube, that I use for music and some news stuff, and Spotify where I only listen to Podcasts. I have a huge block of my day driving for work, and podcasts are a must and it helps keep me up to date with things going on, and provide some much needed time to be apart of a conversation, well even a fly on the wall.

IG, Twitter, and Tiktok essentially provide no utility whatsoever and will lead to relapse. Even with YouTube shorts. I'd suggest removing YT off of your mobile to remove the shorts, because it's a cringe starter mixing in sexy girls doing stupid things, and throw in some outrage material, and then all of a sudden, you magically got that itch and you want to watch some hardcore porn, with like lesbians, whips, thumbtacks, pepper spray, and cactuses...... Once you get into like 10 years of porn, 15-25 years old... I'd say you've just about seen everything, and you lose your luster after living like Ghangis khan without the blood shed.

I'd stick with some Udemy courses. The are very cheap when they are on sale. They got Linux, Web Dev, Database SQL, Mobile Dev. Java & JS. AWS/Azure. Python, CCNA, Security courses. It's really competitive, compared to boot camps. for 200$ you can get over 200 hours of content. Everything is structured and they are comprehensive. You just have to remove everything else that you would rather be doing and focus on that money, because that is the reward mechanism you are looking for. Getting paid son. When you are caught slipping, you gotta say nothing else matters.

Remember what I said about people and fear, I think men work this way until they have children and then they do things off of love, and fear of not providing, but men without children are going to be motivated by fear, and in society's there are hierarchy's with specific duties, and some compartmentalization, and when one is given a task by an authority, nothing else matters. In a world not to long ago, your father would be tasked with training you from a boy to man, the skills that would be valued to society. Now that is hardly the case for so many people. In a very popular fictitious world, DUNE, The emperor tasks the House of Atreides, to leave their home world, to cultivate a commodity on a different planet. Who is the master and who is the student.

Today in our education system, this connection between student and teacher is important, and things may seem boring and unmotivating when there is no human aspect to the education. In a Linux Course that I've been through, I'm quite fond of this guy Imram Afzal, who is a great teacher. https://www.udemy.com/course/complete-linux-training-course-to-get-your-dream-it-job/

In a way you want to be a success story, you want to make this guy proud of making this course, as a way of showing your appreciation. That is the way of the student and the teacher. Porn is the opposite of that, it's barbaric, it's resentful, It's spiteful, and it's entrapping, squandering your potential, at every step, and then draining your motivation and energy at literally your weakest moment.
