Just graduated the MCSIA program!

It took 2 terms - one in late 2018, then a year-long break due to an adoption and finally the second/last term starting in February 2020. I wanted to share some notes and my perspective in case it can be valuable for anyone.

The program changed somewhat significantly between my break and my return. I had to take a couple new classes, the CHFI assessment had been redone and the capstone was different. That said, this was not a difficult program to complete.

For the CHFI class: Get the $10 Udemy class. It does an excellent job of breaking down the specific areas to focus on.

For the capstone: Just turn the task 2 requirements into headers, change them to state something a little more professional and abbreviated, and just write them out as individual answers. You'll be repeating yourself a lot.

Overall, this was a fine program - as someone with a lot of experience in IT (almost 20 now) I don't think I really learned new skills, but it was a valuable refresher in some instances and honestly - if writing a document that few people will read based on an archaic and outdated set of instructions just because you have been told to do it isn't a good analog for working in some of the heavily bureaucratic companies out there, I don't know what is.

Yes, a lot of this is dumb stuff. The CFIH is incredibly pointless. The CEH is not really a cutting edge cert that is valued. A lot of this needs updating - but a lot of the things I was frustrated about on my first go-round in 2018 were addressed and I'm confident that WGU will keep polishing this program.

If anyone has questions on specifics just ask or message me! Good luck everyone.

I took that exam a year ago when I was in WGU. There is an exam simulator on udemy that was excellent for preparing for the exam. Ken Underhill wrote this simulator when he was in WGU and was by far the most helpful resource. Here is the link

Found another thread here in which someone recommended this material from Udemy. I saved the links, but not the thread, so I can't give that person credit, sadly. Haven't tried these out myself, but will soon. I'm about to start C702 in the next week or so. I've heard it's a beast!
