I think we need to clarify the word Occult. When Agrippa wrote 3 Books of Occult Philosophy he was trying to synthesize early modern beliefs in a way that made sense in the epistemology of the time. This is because Natural Philosophy in the Early modern period had occult forces (hidden forces) at work. Ostensibly we could call Dark Matter, Occult Matter, but people have an imprecise use of the terminology so it may cause confusion. The same goes for the word esoteric. It literally means internal but it has come to mean arcane and rare.
