I'd recommend purchasing this Colt Steele Git/Github course during the next udemy sale, probably pretty soon. It'll probably be less than $15 USD so a reasonable price for what is IMO a great course for someone who doesn't necessarily want to pour through the dry documentation until you've a better idea of how git and github work.

I recently bought an Udemy course for exactly this. Might be worth a look?

I can't give an idea of what it's like, as I'm reluctant to do courses in parallel, but it's by Colt Steele who is highly considered.

I really like Colt Steel and he has a Udemy Course for 12 bucks. Also, it's free through a lot of local libraries. https://www.udemy.com/course/git-and-github-bootcamp/

I dont think it can be explained in a few lines here. I had the same questions and followed a course about Git and Github. Now I know all I need to know. This is the course I followed:

The git learning curve is like this: super simple -> wtf does any of this mean, this is insane, what is going on? -> oh, yeah, that's super simple

I've used git and github plenty, but I'm only getting into git lfs and Unreal. I recommend this course, when it's on sale, https://www.udemy.com/course/git-and-github-bootcamp/. It's extremely thorough and everything you need to know is all in one place and in order. It won't go over Unreal, but the Unreal part is simple enough once you know your way around git.

Most of all, don't despair. Git is really easy. It was made to be easy. For some reason, once you start digging into it, it looks insane, but it is not. It is actually simple and easy to use, I promise.

I've found that tutorials tend to make it seem complex and daunting, but it's actually really simple. I don't know why tutorials in the programming world unnecessarily complicate things. Perhaps good teachers are rarer than I thought.

I highly recommend this course: https://www.udemy.com/course/git-and-github-bootcamp/. It's thorough and straight forward. It's 17 hours of git and GitHub, but like I said, it's thorough. Most tutorials only cover the basics.

This course has been helping me a ton, really feeling the light bulbs turn on.

If you don't mind paying a like $12 for the course on Udemy: https://www.udemy.com/course/git-and-github-bootcamp/

You can search for "udemy coupon codes" with any search engine and find coupons to drop the price of most courses down to about $11-$16 or you can wait for a site wide sale which occurs quite frequently. That Git course has been a pleasant help, indeed.
