Think about what you are trying to achieve here. You can fly and enjoy yourself, or you can fly for a living. In addition consider the lifestyle you want. Do you want to free up your weekends to hang out with your friends and family? A CP may not be able to do that. Several considerations like that. The money is good, but over time a doctor will get paid more. Like someone here said, a great approach would be to see if you like it by doing simulator training on Microsoft Flight Simulator or Xplane 11. Don't just buy a joystick and fly an f22 on a silly setting because chances of you doing it in real life is slim (of course, it's great if you just want to play it as a 'game') . Look up PPL training on Udemy, do a course that prepares you for the ground school exam (https://www.udemy.com/course/part-1-faa-private-pilot-ground-school-part-61/) . You will have to do this anyway if you want to pursue it as a career or get a ppl, so this is money well spent. Also do Flight Sim training (https://www.udemy.com/user/howard-forder/) to get the best out of the simulators. Try to get a yoke, rudder and the rest, the outlay is minimal compared to what you'd spend for training. It may also help you better grasp the real flight training lessons and lower your overall cost. And you will be able to familiarise yourself with the procedures, processes and systems at your leisure and as often as you want. You may find that you like general aviation better than commercial, you may find that you like gliders better than light aircraft and so on.

I bought all 5 sections of a ground school on Udemy.

Part 1 linked below.

The instructor is great and I've enjoyed the way it's presented. Of course some of the content isn't as interesting but I think it's a fantastic course. He's also a certified FAA flight instructor, and a commercial pilot.

There's a few free sample chapters so you'll get an idea of his teaching style and content quality.
