Passed Statistics DSST with a 434 & End of my CLEP Journey

Hello friends!

Today, I passed the Principles of Statistics DSST with a score of 430!

I thought that the test was fairly easy (except for the last 10-15 questions). I finished with about 30 minutes remaining. Here's what I did:

1. I went through Krista King's Statistics course. You can definitely use Khan Academy's free course instead, but I just wanted to hear a different voice for once because Salman Khan has been speaking to me since I was in 7th grade!

2. I went through Peterson's practice DSST statistics test.

I should mention that Krista King did not go through a few things on the test so Khan Academy could definitely fill that gap. Again, you can definitely just use Khan Academy instead! The Peterson Test wasn't too similar to the actual test (maybe it's outdated or something), but I think it was good at presenting any gaps in the easier topics.

On the test, I used a physical TI-30XS Multiview calculator. I think that this is one of the best non-programmable calculator that complies with DSST policy. Your choice of calculator could definitely alter the result (especially if you opt in for the horrible imbedded calculator on the testing software).

I already knew a good amount of descriptive statistics, probability, and hypothesis testing from previous courses, so I just glided through those sections. I didn't memorize any of the more complicated formulas of the later sections of statistics and that hurt my score a bit - I gambled that I could pass without doing so, but if you aren't as risky as me then definitely feel free to! In any case, I would definitely suggest knowing the idea of how and why statistics formulas work.

Anyways, I have officially completed my Freshman Year for Free™ with the passing of this test! With my combined credits from the CLEPs, DSSTs, and University tests, I have maxed out of my university's bypass test credit limit of 30 credits. It's been a beautiful 8-month journey - I still can't believe that I can graduate early with all of these credits that were pretty much free! It's been real y'all <3

I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your journey!

Ahhh, ok. I've seen some courses offered in Udemy for basic stats as well. I've liked their courses in the past.

This course looks like it touches on all basics from mean/chart types/z-scores to distribution/hypthosesis testing/regression/sampling. https://www.udemy.com/course/statistics-probability/

I'm taking the precal course by the same author and have been liking the format so far! I know there are free resources, but I also get a little more motivated to finish knowing I paid a couple bucks haha (sad I know).

Become a Probability & Statistics Master : Is this course on Udemy worth taking?

Has anybody taken this course? Will this course be good for learning basic stats and probability required for data science ??
