How to get started? Issues attempting to do tutorials with VRTK, SteamVR, etc.

Hi all,

I'm attempting to get my base VR development setup, and I can't seem to get the base environment built.

I was attempting to use either this Udemy class:

https://www.udemy.com/course/vr-in-unity-a-beginners-guide/

or this brand new course from unity/oculus:

https://learn.unity.com/course/oculus-vr

The problem is that both are basically recommending some variation of VRTK combined with SteamVR, Oculus Integration, etc. I've tried following both tutorials, importing files from the asset store as they show and doing git bashes manually, and no matter what approach I take I get code errors.

From my research, it seems there are a lot of compatibility issues between these packages these days (which seems weird that the brand new unity/oculus course would already recommend outdated code).

Basically, I'm wondering if anyone can point me to the most reliable and standard VR development toolkit. I just want to have a working environment that I can explore to understand how everything works in VR dev and what's possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

Cheers.

That's a cool idea. I haven't seen any for the Quest yet, but I did find a PCVR Cornhole game, and a free Udemy Unity class that teaches programming one.
